Our Top Picks for Feast Festival 2016

It’s the 20th year since Feast was created to celebrate pride and diversity, providing a platform for the LGBTIQ community and banding together to share arts and culture with the greater community. We’ve picked our top shows that you absolutely can’t miss this Feast Festival.

Lady Liberty

After conquering the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and then landing a gig for the 5-day event in London, Fresh Out of the Fringe, Amelia Ryan has now returned to Adelaide to present her show, Lady Liberty. Lovers of performing arts and a good laugh will definitely be pleased by Amelia’s hilarious performance. She’s an award-winning cabaret artist, writer, presenter and coach – as well as a triple threat. Killer singing voice, queen of comedy and can put on a hell of a good show!

Presenting at Feast Festival, Lady Liberty is ” like a bender with your bestie…think Eat, Pray, Shove! From marriage equality to ménage à trois, champagne guzzling to green-juicing, and box-gaps to feeling #blessed, she tackles the pressing issues facing the modern woman in search of liberty…whatever that is?”

Watch as she covers music of our favourite artists of all time… Queen, ACDC, Pharell Williams and the Beach Boys. Sharing stories with her own honest wit, she talks politics, anecdotes and more. Get ready to be liberated!

Lady Liberty will be showing from October 21 to November 6 at Feast Festival.

The Australian Ballet unveils its premiere production of John Neumier’s Nijinsky. From October 14-18 at Feast Festival, the performance will tell the story of ballet icon Vaslav Nijinsky and his unconventional and distinct style of dance. This will be a rare opportunity to see this special work outside of Europe. Enjoy two acts of exotic glamour, heartening drama and talent dressed with elaborate sets and costumes. There’s nothing more luxurious than a girls’ night at the ballet.

Grab your tickets to this exciting show at the Adelaide Festival Theatre, showing October 14-18 at Feast Festival.

Feast Festival and Friends of the Australian Ballet SA have also put together a lovely little pre-show event with David McAllister, Artistic Director of The Australian Ballet.
