Plans for New Years?
This summer, everyone’s favourite beachside holiday destination, Port Elliot, is welcoming a new event, The Sailing Club.
The Sailing Club, created by Sam Worrall-Thompson, Head Chef and co-owner of Jack Ruby Bar and Diner, will see both locally sourced and established Adelaide based premium food and wine businesses coming together to service the local community and temporary influx of tourists.
The activated space will be a premium offering for locals, tourists and holiday goers with a luxurious nautical aesthetic.
“This is a first for the Fleurieu Peninsula and we’re very excited to be launching The Sailing Club with some great names already on board for our first year,” Sam said. Adelaide based Thai street food eatery Sukhumvit Soi 38 and Abbotts and Kinney are the first announcements as part of the initial food line up with wineries including Lost Buoy, Howard Vineyard and Samuel’s Gorge plus Stone & Wood Brewing Company also taking part in the inaugural event.
Sam Worrall Thompson, son of renowned UK chef Antony Worrall-Thompson, will also be bringing his own food to the festival. “The Sailing Club is also excited to announce that our favourite local Adelaide gin, Ounce Gin, is jumping on board to create the ultimate Gin Party for New Year’s Day – they’ll be mixing up gin cocktails across the 3 day festival,” Sam said.
“Gin Parties and Gin festivals are a growing trend interstate – we have some of the finest gin in Australia, so we thought we should celebrate that.”
“Goolwa through to Victor Harbor is always buzzing over the Christmas and New Year period. The Sailing Club is bringing the best of Adelaide to meet with some amazing local businesses to create an all ages event and place to unwind – nothing beats a summer afternoon along the coast with friends, good food and drinks.”
