Adelaide Cup has snuck right up on us and we can’t wait! The 2017 UBET Adelaide Cup is ready to give us a fantastic day of racing – join your fellow fashionistas at ‘The Starting Gate’, featuring the yummiest food trucks around – Daisy Burget, Sooki Lala and Feisty Filomena as well as some cocktail bars for that long-weekend awaited drink in hand. The People vs Coffee will serve up Espresso Martinis for the addicts (guilty) and coffee on the day. Triple J presenter and DJ, KLP and Miami Horror will provide after race beats.

Ellie Brown UBET Adelaide Cup fashion ambassador and beau of Adelaide Crows Captain Taylor Walker, knows a thing or two about dressing for the races. We get in touch with her for her top fashion tips – she will also be on the judging panel for Myer Fashions on the Field.

I love a feminine and elegant look, such as a beautiful pastel or floral dress paired with a statement hat or headpiece. Steer away from too much black – the UBET Adelaide Cup is in autumn, which is the perfect time to dress in beautiful pinks, lime green and light blue. Think about your outfit as a whole – your headpiece, shoes, bag and accessories should all complement the perfect dress.

This year try something new with your headpiece. I love metallic crowns or headpieces, or if you’re feeling advenurous wear a boater hat – it is a modern and fun look.

Make a smart shoe choice, something you know you’ll last the day in! There is nothing worse than sore feet, so don’t let a pair of shoes ruin your day. A strappy block heel is on trend and is also great when you’re standing on the lawn.

I love a good jumpsuit, however on race day I would steer clear, the trip to the ladies room is too difficult! Stick to a dress, or top and skirt combo instead.

Training a winning horse, is just like wearing a winning outfit – all the preparation is done beforehand! So make sure you have your dress, bag and accessories organised before race day.

In my role as judge of Myer Fashions on the Field I’m going to be looking for a woman who is wearing an outfit that makes her feel good and one that she is comfortable in.

Remember the UBET Adelaide Cup is a daytime event, so carefully choose how much skin you expose. If you choose a low cut neckline, drop the hemline down. Also dress for the weather; if it’s a slightly cooler day remember to bring a cape or a light fur jacket that matches your outfit.

Style isn’t all about the clothes you wear. Style your hair and make-up to match your outfit, and don’t be afraid of going with a bold lip to finish your outfit.
