Empower future South Australians

Enterprising women’s organisations join forces to empower future South Australian leaders.

Spence Club and Inkling Women will team up on June 19 to present ‘Empower’: a career confidence workshop designed to inspire South Australian women to live their best life in the workplace and beyond.

The workshop will be run by newly-appointed Inkling Women CEO and South Australian expat, Sophie Hampel, who recently made the move to Sydney to expand the business. The award-winning organisation is renowned nationwide for their efforts and mission to rapidly lift the percentage of women at leadership level.

Founded in late 2014 and named after iconic South Australian suffragette Catherine Helen Spence, Spence Club Inc. is a unique networking organisation bringing together high-achieving young women from a diverse range of sectors including lawyers, engineers, political advisors, accountants, doctors, journalists, educators and business owners who are and aspire to be leaders in the state.

Spence Club Inc. also provides a valued touchstone for South Australian expatriates, forming a global network of like-minded and successful women, with a newly established base in London.

“Spence provides me with genuine connections with other women and recognizes the fantastic talent we have in South Australia,” Spence Club chair Lucinda Hewitson said.

Fellow member Sarah Bartholomeusz, founder and CEO of You Legal and 2015 SA Telstra Business Women’s Award winner, agrees that Spence Club is home to ‘South Australia’s sisterhood’.

“(It’s) a place for young women across industries to connect at unique events, collaborate and celebrate each other’s success,” she said.

At the same time, Spence Club Inc. has a philanthropic objective to support charities. The Empower event on June 19 will raise funds for Bramwell House: a vital crisis accommodation service for single women and women with children escaping domestic violence.
