We all tend to wear many hats, particularly mums – they tend to be the chef, the taxi, the teacher, the business woman, and the list goes on. So, after all of the jobs have been done, the kids are tucked in and the day winds to an end, there is often little time left for mums to spend on themselves. Somewhere in all of this happy chaos their own needs tend to come last.
Jodie Oddy is no stranger to busy. She’s one half of Adelaide’s 102.3 breakfast show and mum to six-year-old Payton and four-year-old Summer. Jodie took some time out recently at Westfield with senior stylist Lauren Dilena to find her autumn wardrobe. “We want to celebrate mums and help them realise that when you become a mum you don’t stop being ‘you’,” says Lauren.
“There is no secret to juggling work and life, and to be honest my balance is often off,” says Jodie, “but I have realised that it’s important to have ‘me’ time – and not to feel guilty about it. If I don’t take time out to go on a shopping trip, have a massage, go on a date night, have a girly lunch or get my daily exercise I am no good to anyone. I don’t think that’s selfish, I think that gives you the right mindset to be able to look after everyone else who needs you to be happy and healthy.”
If you’re in need of some retail therapy head to Westfield, book a personal style session and indulge in a bit of ‘you’ time this autumn. As an added bonus, sessions booked before the end of May will receive $50 off a two-hour personal style session at Marion, Tea Tree Plaza and West Lakes. T&Cs apply.
