National Wine Centre

Distinctive architecture, an iconic Adelaide backdrop and for the wine lovers, well, there’s plenty to choose from! The National Wine Centre is for the modern bride who likes the nice things in life – think an inspired menu made using locally sourced produce and created by executive chef Steven Clark, an extensive wine cellar and two onsite ceremony locations. But what really makes this trailblazing city venue stand out is the abundance of natural light, wide-open spaces and the authentic winery vibe – all in the heart of the CBD. They even have their very own vineyard, providing the perfect photo op!

 Stand-out features
Set on the edge of the picturesque Botanic Gardens and boasting its own vineyard, this one is hard to go past. Throw in a choice of four reception venues and two ceremony locations and it’s a done deal!

 Mingling guests are happy guests
Need more? The esteemed Wined Bar is a great spot for guests to mingle in between the ceremony and reception. Here they can sample a variety of wines (120 in total) thanks to the Enomatic preservation and dispensing system.

 Winter wedding special
Includes a three-course sit down menu including a choice of main course, five-hour beverage package, chair covers and sashes, a five-hour DJ and MC package provided by Entertainment Adelaide and complimentary ceremony package for $150 per person.

 The Adelaide Zoo

It’s probably not your first thought when you think ‘wedding’, but it should be! The Adelaide Zoo offers 360 degree views of the surrounding Botanical Gardens (from the heritage-listed Sir Thomas Elder Rotunda), unique animal experiences (tiger feeding, anyone?) and the opportunity for you and your guests to move between several of the venue’s ceremony and reception areas.

There are nine location options to choose from – the Sir Thomas Elder Rotunda, the Central Lawns, the Immersion Longhouse (home to the gorgeous Sumatran Tigers and Orangutans), the Bamboo Forest (Wang Wang and Funi’s pad), and the Fig Tree Function Centre. Can’t decide? Why not start the night with canapes and cocktails in Immersion Longhouse or Bamboo Forest, before moving on to your reception in the Rotunda or Function Centre? Guests may also choose to wander the grounds in between the ceremony and reception.

 The guest list
The Zoo caters for small, intimate gatherings to large functions (the Central Lawns can hold up to 900), so there really is something for everyone. Thanks to Quality Catering, who work in partnership with Adelaide Zoo to provide catering and event management services, you’ll also get your very own event manager who will work with you to plan and execute the big day.

 The extras
All ceremonies include Zoo entry for up to 120 people, welcome signage, an Adelaide Zoo host to coordinate your ceremony, bridal car parking and an all-important wet weather back-up venue (subject to availability).

This place is a photographer’s dream with idyllic photo ops at every turn. Expertly styled with imported Italian furniture and family-owned original artworks, the property is only available for a limited number of exclusive weddings each year.

It doesn’t end with the last dance; Beresford House also offers limited but superb accommodation options. The House is has two wings, the Reserve Suite and Grenache Villa. Each wing boasts a private courtyard with huge open fire place.

 Waverley Estate

Steeped in history and nestled among towering gums, olives and petit verdot vines, this luxurious bluestone villa could be in Tuscany. Of course, it’s not – it’s in Port Elliot, just over half an hour’s drive from the Adelaide CBD.
