From announcing her participation in Miss Universe Australia to becoming the 2019 TAB Adelaide Cup ambassador, it’s been a whirlwind twelve months for Adelaide it-girl Jessica Dover. Representing the biggest racing day in South Australia, we chat with Jess on ambassador roles, fashion on the field and all things racing!
“I was so overwhelmed, it was pretty exciting”, says Jess when asked about being approached to be the face of the 2019 TAB Adelaide Cup. “Morphettville really like representing people from Adelaide and those who have a connection with Adelaide. South Australian Jockey Club (SAJC) asked if I’d like to be the ambassador of the Cup and to spread awareness of the event, and I said I’d love to! I actually feel really humbled to have been asked – it’s the biggest racing event of the year for Adelaide!”
Becoming a racing ambassador isn’t just about keeping up appearances. From campaign shoots to media calls, there are a lot of elements involved. “The first major thing I did was the campaign shoot, which was actually back in October. My participation also includes being a part of the Barrier Draw on March 5, covering the event there and, of course, covering Adelaide Cup on the day over social media. Basically, getting everyone excited for the day!”
Horse racing aside, for Jess it’s also all about the Fashion on the Field. “The fashion is definitely my favourite part of the day – that and hanging out with friends. The good thing about Adelaide Cup is that it’s a stand-alone racing day, so everyone spends time picking their outfits and organising their day. It’s nice to all come together – you see so many people from Adelaide and it’s a good chance to catch up with people you haven’t seen in a while.”
On fashion, Jess will be sporting Mimi-Jane Millinery and will be dressed by stylist Chris Kontos. “I’m not sure what he (Kontos) has planned for me. I’m hoping I’ll be dressed in Acler or Georgy Collection. We will see!”
