What is floatation therapy?

Floatation therapy involves lying in a state-of-the-art Dream Pod, (the only one of its kind in SA!). You are suspended in 550 kilograms of magnesium sulphate (Epsom salts) heated to a perfect skin temperature of 35.5 degrees. The high concentration creates a dense and buoyant solution, allowing you to float effortlessly and experience an incredible feeling of weightlessness, similar to the zero gravity experienced while floating in space.

Explain a session to us. What can you expect?

Float therapy is a gentle and effective form of healing for your body and mind. You rid the body and mind of all external stimuli for 60 minutes, allowing the body to release stress and tension and clear the mind of all negative and anxious thoughts. The soft relaxation music played during the session further helps the body enter a deep state of relaxation.

Who should try this experience?

People float for many different reasons. Whether it’s deep relaxation, muscle recovery, stress and anxiety relief or to become more creative. Floatation therapy adds a holistic approach to pain relief and relaxation. The treatment can be experienced by men and women, and even children from as young as five. We are the first float centre to offer float therapy for children that suffer from varying physical or mental ailments and we have seen great results from this.

How many sessions are required?

You need about three floats before the body and mind are able to completely
relax and let go. During the first float your body will experience weightlessness
but your mind will still be relatively active; during the second float your mind will
be able to shut down a lot faster and
a deeper sense of relaxation is achieved. When you see the pod for the third time your mind already begins to relax and feel at ease. The body knows what to expect and the mind is almost immediately lulled into the deepest state of relaxation.
