Locals at Beer & BBQ Fest

This year’s Beer & BBQ Festival is just around the corner. With over 3 days and 4 sessions jam-packed with local and national food-makers and brewers, choice is abundant. We’ve compiled a handy little list of our most anticipated local food and drink vendors.

Sneaky Pickle

This is your Beer & BBQ Fest debut! What are you looking forward to?
Yes, it’s our first Beer & BBQ Fest! We feel the time is right this year to totally rock it and be a part of this awesome festival.

What’s on your Beer & BBQ Fest menu?
Our menu is full of traditional American BBQ favourites, including brisket, whole hog, hot links and more. However, we will be throwing in some Tex-Mex influence and the odd sandwich for the punters to growl out late into the night.

What is the price point?
We are keeping all our menu items between $15 and $30.

What’s the one thing on the menu that our readers need to try?
Our menu will cover a broad range of items from snacks, sandwiches, to a full plated meals, so we encourage meat-eaters to try everything over the 3 days.

Syrian Mobile Disco

What is Syrian Mobile Disco?
Syrian Mobile Disco is a Syrian food and party combo [run by Skin Contact mastermind, Mark Kamleh]. The recipes are my dad’s, who inherited them from his mum. Unlike traditional Arab households, both of my parents cooked, and my dad taught myself and my mum how to cook. As for the party side of the business, my convertible car doubles as a DJ booth, which will be parked at a secret club bar at Beer & BBQ Festival playing Adelaide’s finest bangers.

Why do you do what you do?
Feeding and entertaining people is a wonderful thing – I get joy by making people dance and when I fill their bellies!

What is the price point?
$10 to $25.

What’s on the menu?
Most of the cooking is done over coals, and the dishes will include, falafel, halloumi fries, shawarma chicken, kibbeh nayeh (pretty much Arabic steak tartare but it’s lamb and different), and camel kafta. All of the vegetarian dishes are also vegan.

The must-try dish?
The camel kofta, and also the falafel.

Smiling Samoyed

Smiling Samoyed

Tell us about Smiling Samoyed. What sets you apart?
Of course, our beers are the first thing. We produce a range of delicious award-winning beers, including our core range (Kolsch, 12 Paws, IPA and Dark Ale) and seasonals. We are very proud to have been awarded Most Outstanding Beer in Show (twice) and Champion Small Brewery at the Royal Adelaide Beer and Cider Awards.

We’re also a family and dog friendly brewery. Visitors to our brewery can enjoy beer and pizza all while having their fur kids and actual kids with them. We will be bringing a bit of our family friendly atmosphere to the Beer & BBQ Festival this year with a colouring competition on the Sunday.

What’s on the menu for Beer & BBQ Festival? What are you looking forward to?
A selection of our core and seasonal releases including a double IPA brewed especially for the festival. The Beer & BBQ Festival is a great opportunity to meet with beer lovers – those that know and love our beer already, those that don’t have an opportunity to visit us at our brewery bar, and also to introduce our beers to people who haven’t had them yet. We are letting Brewer, Maddi, out of the brewery for the weekend, and she is really looking forward to sharing her passion for the beers.

What’s the price point?
Our beers vary in price depending on the style.

What’s the one thing on the menu that our readers must try?
We will have a range of seasonal and limited releases at the festival, and we highly recommend trying them as it may be the only opportunity before they are gone.
