Experience authentic Thai massage in the heart of the city at Siam Retreat.
Lili Harrison shares her thoughts as she puts their Royal massage to the test.
Upon walking into Siam Retreat, the aroma of lemongrass fills my senses and I feel an overwhelming calm. Owner, Princy Diaosurin, welcomes me and I’m showed to the luxurious couple’s room, half of which is fit with a beautiful open shower and enormous bath.
I slip on my robe and dip my feet into a footbath filled with flowers and steaming with essential oils. Then, I de-robe and move over to the massage table where the masseuse stretches my limbs using a traditionally intensive stretching technique intended to stimulate and relieve the muscles.
The salt scrub follows, which is the ideal postscript to a relaxing stretch and gentle massage. It left my skin feeling exfoliated and refreshed. Afterwards, I rinsed off in the shower using an Exotic Kaffir Lime and Lemongrass essence to remove the salt, oils and dead skin cells, revealing baby soft skin.?
Next up, the main attraction: a classic Thai massage. This massage is more form than the last – my masseuse kneeled on the table and wielded her elbows to work out all my kinks and taut muscles.
To conclude, I was left to relax in an almond milk bath filled with flowers – a peaceful end to the 90 minute treatment.
I slowly dress, not looking forward to entering the real world again. As we say our farewell, Princy offers us bael fruit tea to conclude the pampering. I depart stretched, regenerated and thoroughly relaxed.
We can only conclude that The Royal is probably as close to heaven as we can ever achieve on earth.
This luxurious experience is offered in 90 or 120 minute packages, starting from $149.
