With easy access to the best retail and dining that Mount Barker has to offer and a bus interchange that leads directly to the heart of Adelaide, Newenham’s Linear Park shared walk is the perfect nature experience for both tourists and locals.
Every element of the park has been carefully considered in order to create an environment that supports health, happiness and wellbeing for the community.
Burke Urban’s Marketing and Sales Director, Olivia Burke says “The Newenham Linear Park provides easy and safe access from Newenham into the heart of Mount Barker for those who love to walk, run or bike ride”. With the peace of mind of safety, the park becomes the perfect activity for a family outing, and a great destination for scenic adventures.
The hike is 2 kilometres long and involves some of the most enchanting native vegetation, local birdlife, wetlands and a viewing platform to take it all in. If you wish to prolong the walk, you can walk via the Western Flat Creek which takes you through Newenham and out to an existing path in Keith Stephenson Park and turns the hike into a vast 16 kilometres.
The trail consists of 26 contemporary stone sculptures by artists from all over the world. Part of the beautiful Adelaide Hills Sculpture trail, it features ‘Sculptors’ by artist Lui Yang, which was created especially for Newenham. If you aren’t up for the entire exhibition, you can take the ‘mini trail’ which only includes 7 of the masterpieces.
