Netflix Must-Sees

As we make our way through the entire Netflix catalogue we’ve compiled a self-isolation must-see list of some of our all-time (fashion-filled) favourites.

Suddenly Thirty

When thirteen-year-old Jenna Rink (Jennifer Garner) whispers the words “thirty, flirty and thriving” she is transformed from a teen into a thirty-year-old who is forced to negate her way through her future life.

Our major work-from-home takeout? Roll out of bed in your best pink slip (chocolate coloured lace trim optional), add an oversized coat and a pair of open-toe kitten heels. Before making your way to the home office, grab a silver sequin baguette bag to complete the look.

Satin midi slip dress, now $49.95, Sportsgirl / silk eye mask, now $39.96, Peter Alexander

Sex and the City

As we patiently wait for the day all six seasons come to Netflix, Sex and the City the movie provides plenty of inspired fashion moments. Who can forget Carrie running down the streets of New York in that Vivienne Westwood wedding dress? Iconic.

If you’re thinking using your spare time to clear out your wardrobe, take inspiration from the SATC girls. You’ll need a ‘toss’ and ‘take’ sign and the RUN-D.M.C. Raising Hell album, featuring ’80s classic Walk this Way. Champagne optional.

Flowers, $60, Pink Tulip Flowers / Edward Miller heels, now $127, David Jones.

Crazy Rich Asians

A story based on the opulent wealth of a community is guaranteed to produce a series of jaw-dropping fashion moments. A Pinterest board of glamour and glitz, the film features international and local designers alike.

SA Style‘s favourite, the quirky Peik Lin, first appears in an animal print Stella McCartney suit and platform Gucci heels. From here, an onslaught of designers are featured, including Elie Saab, Ralph Lauren, Dior, Alexander McQueen, Hugo Boss, YSL, Dolce & Gabbana, Missoni and Miu Miu.

Shirt, 59.95, Zara / ballet flat, $1150, Gucci

The 1995 cult classic Clueless had a whole generation of plaid-wearing girls screaming “as if!” and “whatever!”. Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone) is the wealthy Beverly Hills girl everyone wants to be. Navigating high school alongside her equally stylish best friend Dionne (Stacey Dash), the popular teenagers face important challenges like romance, make-overs and getting their drivers permits.

Aside from the iconic plaid-on-plaid looks, the movie creates fashion moment after fashion moment. For date night at home make like Cher and take on the ’90s slip dress trend. Our favourite is her infamous all-white Calvin Klein number.

Dress, now $99.95, Country Road / Alias Mae mule, $199.95, David Jones / hair clip (3-pack), now $11.87, Sportsgirl
